This piece was created during and in response to the global pandemic. Painting helped me process the many emotions and complexities of this unique time.
We were receiving so may mixed messages during this time and it became hard to decipher fact from fiction.
Also during this time, we were in the midst of a civil rights movement.
In this painting I saw mixed messages and narratives, chaos and burning of old ways, cities fighting and rising out of the ashes, and a struggle through transformation with beauty along the way.
If it feels like things are falling apart and breaking down, it’s because they are. The system is broken. So, as one of my mentors would say, “Let it break.”
